The DCIA is a voluntary, consensus organization
with representation from all substantially
affected sectors of the nascent distributed
computing industry. This includes companies
involved in providing the platforms for
storage, transmission, and exhibition of
content, file-sharing networks and operators,
and digital media rights holders. DCIA participants
are engaged in the development and adoption
of business and technical standards-and-practices
to advance the commercial development of
this rapidly growing consumer-based distribution
system. |
District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce
(DCCC)

The District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce
is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated
to improving the climate for business in
DC. With over 2,000 members, DCCC has an
impact on legislation and the business climate.
DCCC is working to expand the economy in
Washington, DC by attracting new jobs and
creating economic opportunities for members
and citizens. DCCC also focuses on issues
that impact future growth and community

consortium of nearly 200 leading service
providers, equipment manufacturers and other
interested parties, focused on developing
the full potential of broadband DSL to meet
the needs of the mass market. With the established
goal of 200 million customers by 2005, the
DSL Forum works to streamline processes,
develop specifications and share best practices
that set the stage for effective deployments,
and explosive global DSL growth. By developing
new standards and embracing new applications,
the DSL Forum is tailoring DSL to meet the
needs of the next generation of multi-media
services and the online community. |

Durham Convention & Visitors Bureau (DCVB)

The Durham Convention & Visitors Bureau
is a local tourism development authority
chartered by state and local government
in cooperation with the private sector to
attract and serve visitors to the City and
County of Durham by reinvesting a portion
of the visitor-paid “room occupancy and
tourism development tax” in promotion and
marketing. Durham has 60 lodging properties
with more than 7,000 guest rooms. Altogether,
Durham has more than 300,000 net square
feet of meeting and exhibition space including
two major convention centers. |

DVD Copy Control Association

The DVD Copy Control Association is a not-for-profit
corporation with responsibility for licensing
CSS (Content Scramble System) to manufacturers
of DVD hardware, discs and related products.
Licensees include the owners and manufacturers
of the content of DVD discs; creators of
encryption engines, hardware and software
decrypters; and manufacturers of DVD Players
and DVD-ROM drives. |

Versatile Discs. The Forum's purpose is
to exchange and disseminate ideas and information

works to promote broad acceptance of DVD
products on a worldwide basis, across entertainment,
consumer electronics and IT industries. |
DVD+RW Alliance

The DVD+RW Alliance is a voluntary group
of industry-leading personal computing manufacturers,
optical storage and electronics manufacturers
including Dell, Hewlett-Packard Company,
MCC/Verbatim, Philips Electronics, Ricoh
Company, Sony Corporation, Thomson Multimedia
and Yamaha Corporation. The group seeks
to develop and promote a universally compatible,
rewritable DVD format to enable true convergence
between personal computing and consumer
electronics products. |
