Bay Area Council

The Bay Area Council is a business-sponsored,
public-policy advocacy organization for
the nine-county Bay Area. The Council
proactively advocates for a strong economy,
a vital business environment, and a better
quality of life for everyone who lives here.
Founded in 1945, as a way for the region’s
business community and like-minded individuals
to concentrate and coordinate their efforts,
the Bay Area Council is widely respected
by elected officials, policy makers and
other civic leaders as the regional voice
of business in the Bay Area. |
Better Business Bureau (BBB)
Offices: Arlington, Virginia
The Better Business Bureau system in
the US extends across the nation; coast-to-coast,
and in Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico.
Since the founding of the first BBB
in 1912, the BBB system has proven that
the majority of marketplace problems
can be solved fairly through the use
of voluntary self-regulation and consumer
education. Their mission is to promote
and foster the highest ethical relationship
between businesses and the public through
voluntary self-regulation, consumer
and business education, and service
excellence.

Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center (CEC)
Offices: Chicago, Illinois
The Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center is
a nonprofit affiliate of the Chicagoland
Chamber of Commerce. It seeks to make a
perceptible and lasting economic impact
on the Chicagoland region by helping entrepreneurs
and high-growth businesses build viable,
sustainable, and profitable enterprises.
The CEC is the city and surrounding area's
best connected, most resourceful, and fastest
growing organization that works with entrepreneurs
to create and sustain opportunities for
business success, job growth, and profitability. |
Churchill Club
Offices: San Jose, California
Churchill Club is Silicon Valley's premier
business and technology forum. The 5,000-member,
nonprofit organization has built a reputation
for dynamic, in-the-news programs featuring
Silicon Valley CEOs, up-and-coming executives
and national business leaders. The events
regularly draw more than 400 attendees and
give members the opportunity to network
with the best of Silicon Valley. The Club
is known for its smart, provocative and
often irreverent programs. In addition to
a stellar line-up of senior executives,
the Club features panel discussions with
invaluable information on technology, entrepreneurship,
life sciences, business leadership and innovation. |
Commonwealth Club
Offices: San Francisco, California
Commonwealth Club is the nation's oldest
and largest public affairs forum, bringing
together its 16,000 members for over 400
annual events on topics ranging across politics,
culture, society and the economy. As a non-profit,
non-partisan educational organization, the
Commonwealth Club relies on the support
of its membership, the Business Council
and foundation grants to continue its role
in fostering open public discussion in the
San Francisco Bay Area and throughout the
nation via radio, internet and television. |
Council for Entrepreneurial Development
(CED)
Offices: Research Triangle, North Carolina
CED was founded in 1984 to stimulate the
creation and growth of high impact companies
in the greater Research Triangle area. CED
achieves its mission by providing programs
and services in four major areas: education,
capital formation, mentoring, and communications.
Through these efforts, CED provides entrepreneurs
with the knowledge and skills that ensure
their success and at the same time heightens
awareness of the contribution that entrepreneurial
companies make to their communities and
their economy. |

DC Technology Council (DC Tech)
Offices: Washington, DC
The Washington DC Technology Council works
to expand the visibility and success of
the technology and business community of
the Nation’s Capital. Members include local,
national and international technology companies,
as well as service providers, embassies
and educational institutions. DC Tech provides
information, resources and connections that
help its members grow and succeed. DC Tech
works in a variety of ways to link the technology
industry, government, educational, and research
institutions. Their activities connect the
Washington DC technology community with
professional development and business opportunities. |
Detroit Economic Club (DEC)
Offices: Detroit, Michigan
The Detroit Economic Club was formed in
1934 as a platform for the discussion and
debate of important business, government
and social issues. It is known nationwide
as a top speaking forum for prominent business
and government leaders, who address DEC
members and their guests. The DEC is proud
to have hosted every US President since
Richard Nixon. Their speakers are typically
CEOs of Fortune 100 companies, US
Cabinet members, and other senior state
and national government officials. |
