In 1962 David Watumull was granted a license
from the FCC to begin KTRG Channel 13, under
the ownership of Watumull Broadcasting Company.
In 1984 Rick Blangiardi, former Sales Manager
of KGMB (CBS affiliate), became General
Manager in February. Channel call letters
changed from KTRG to KHNL. By 1986 KHNL-13
was sold to King Broadcasting Company of
Seattle, Washington. KHNL-13 became associated
with the fledgling Fox Broadcasting Network.
August 1994 SF Broadcasting announced the
purchase of KHON-TV and the switch in affiliation
from Fox to NBC which they now remain.

KHON 2
Offices: Honolulu, Hawaii
KHON2 is Hawaii's leading television news
station as Hawaii's News Channel and Honolulu's
Fox affiliate. KHON2 leads in more than

KING 5
Offices: Seattle, Washington
Channel 5 became the first television station
north of San Francisco and west of the Mississippi
in 1948. Eight months later, a local
businesswoman named Dorothy Bullitt bought
the fledgling station and began a tradition
of local quality programming. In 1953 KING
became an ABC affiliate, then moved to NBC
in 1959. KING 5 News is the number-one-rated
news program in Western Washington. |
