NewsChannel 5 (KSDK)

KSDK celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1997. When KSDK first hit the airwaves, it was one of only seven stations in the country. It was the only St. Louis TV station until 1953. KSDK’s first live, color telecast was in June 1956. The live, half-hour program, which airs Monday through Friday at 3 p.m., has won its time period since its debut. The station is one of the top rated NBC affiliates in the top 30 metered markets.

Ohio's first and longest-running television station, WEWS was also the company's first venture in television. It was licensed in 1947 and its call letters were chosen to recognize the company's founder, E. W. Scripps. WDSU NewsChannel 6 has provided New Orleans with local news since 1948. When the television station signed on, it was the first in Louisiana and one of the first 50 television stations in the United States. An NBC affiliate owned by Hearst-Argyle television, WDSU has built a reputation for its ability to lead the way in news coverage, technology and community service. WDSU has been a proud affiliate of NBC for 50 years. However, from 1948 to 1951, it was simultaneously affiliated with the NBC, ABC, CBS and Dumont networks.
